Vintage velveteen youth-size jacket of 18
th
-century style is possibly reworked from an antique garment or made using antique materials.
Great for costuming (see condition description below).
Goldwork ribbon trim along edges of jacket and on shoulders, back princess seams and sleeves.
Hook-and-eye close, neckband, long sleeves with 4 1/2-in.-wide antique lace cuffs, and deeply scalloped hemline.
Fully lined in black woven fabric.
Fitted styling: front darts, back princess seams, curved side seams.
Condition:
The worker where I bought this jacket said its previous owner told her it was part of an English theatre costume.
It has been roughly altered: for size, trim and mending to serve the purpose of period costuming, which was fine if viewing by an audience from a distance.

Armpit to armpit:
15 1/2 in. (seam to seam lying flat)
Sleeve:
20 in. + 4 1/2 in. lace (armhole seam at shoulder to end)
Length:
21 in. (base of neckband center back to bottom)
