Hello,Here we have a Wm. S. Haynes Db (D-flat) Wooden Wood Piccolo #7720 with Silver Head, Cork Pads.
Plays well.
Have used this piccolo for the occasional Db piccolo part in the local community band (Peninsula Concert Band).
Lots of life left in the pads and the piccolo, as is, for similar occasional playing.
Sweet sound, with the round-ish embouchure hole.
Stars and Stripes Forever is much easier to finger, on this piccolo, in G Major, sounding in A-flat Major for the regular band key.
To play in-tune on these old d-flat piccolos, you'll (likely) need to push in the headjoint all the way, and slightly "lip up" the sound, being okay with a slightly "airy" sound, during the cooler months.
During the Summer (warm) months, you might have to pull out the headjoint a tad, depending on the pitch-center of your particular concert band.
The D-flat piccolo has a slightly different timbre, than the C piccolo.
In my experience it is "chirpier" feeling/sounding more bird-like, with an aire of happiness that just seems to happen, once you get going, playing the instrument in a group setting.
For some tunes, we chose/played the Db piccolo, even if we also had a C piccolo part.
