An Ideal Student Piccolo for Concert Band and Marching Band Settings
Built in Elkhart, Indiana, the Armstrong model 204 piccolo is a well-crafted student instrument that excels in both concert band and marching band settings. The 204 piccolo features a silver-plated headjoint and body, which deliver a bright and projecting tone that stands out in ensembles. Silver-plated keys with attractive Y arms offer a responsive feel and steady intonation across the entire range of the instrument, allowing you to focus on improving your technique. Piccolo players at Sweetwater appreciate the 204’s cylindrical bore design, which offers improved intonation and allows developing musicians to easily play in all three registers of the instrument. What's more, the Armstrong 204 student piccolo will arrive to you with an attractive French-style instrument case and a cleaning rod.
Silver-plated headjoint, body, and mechanism
The Armstrong 204 headjoint is fashioned from silver-plated nickel silver to deliver a crisp, clear tone across the entire range of the instrument. It joins a silver-plated body, which is populated by meticulously crafted and assembled silver-plated keys, with Y arms and Pisoni double skin pads. The 204 features a cylindrical bore design to provide even intonation and clarity throughout the entire three-register range of the instrument. Finally, the 204 is equipped with under-mount adjusting screws.
Armstrong Flutes: carefully crafted in the Hoosier State
In 1931, William Teasdale Armstrong opened a small flute repair shop in Elkhart, Indiana. Within a few short years, William’s dedication to quality earned him a reputation as a master craftsman, and professional musicians began requesting custom-made instruments. Throughout the mid-20th century, Armstrong Flutes thrived. Eventually, William passed on the business to his son Edward, who recognized a need among student musicians for high-quality, affordable instruments. In the 1970s, Armstrong teamed with Albert Cooper to develop a new flute scale for 440Hz tuning, which was applied to Anderson’s 102, 103, and 104 student model flutes. Today, Anderson continues to focus on crafting top-notch student model flutes in their Elkhart-based facility.
