    This gown is made in a good work-a-day ginger linen. It's a sturdy fabric that will stand up to wear and tear around the cooking fires while still remaining lightweight and breathable for hot summer reenactments. The linen has a slightly soft hand. It is fully-lined in natural-colored linen. En fourreau back - pinned front. Designed to be worn over reproduction stays and petticoats.

    This gown is best suited to representing 1760-1795 for a common or working woman. Gown is constructed of sturdy 100% linen. Bodice is fully-lined with natural linen. The edges at the arm scyes and skirt attachment are left raw as is historically appropriate. All hems and edges finished by hand.
    HISTORY: Closed-fronted gowns such as this became popular in the fourth quarter of the eighteenth century. They were commonly worn by women of all classes as practical day wear and were often worn with contrasting petticoats showing underneath.
